Horse Racing

Category I winner Winchester is the horse race wagering favorite to win the Grade II Bowling Preservationist on Sept. 11th.

Winchester, who followed up his smashing score in the Mark I Manhattan with a third place finish in the Grade I United Nations, devise be using the Bowling Green Handicap for a run in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in cocks-crow November.

Although on paper Winchester looks the horse to back in the Bowling Green, I’m going with a horse that figures to submit a great price.

1 3/8 miles over turf

11 – Jeune-Turc – 12/1 morning line odds

Jeune-Turc, like Winchester, is a Grade I winner. The big difference is that Jeune-Turc’s Grade I victory occurred in Brazil.   After coming throughout from South America, not a whole lot was expected of Jeune-Turc in the United Nations Handicap.   He didn’t surprise anybody by finishing 8th in that nation and losing by 8 lengths.   Yes, it was a horrible loss, but Jeune-Turc actually fan faster in worst than most of these have series in victory.   Not only that, but trainer Paulo Lobo has had time to work with Jeune-Turc.   The horse should be much improved on Saturday and rates a long look at those double-digit horse race wagering odds .

4 – Strike A Deal – - 6/1 morning belt odds

Strike A Deal is one of those horses that can lose horribly in one folk and then come aid and bombshell at a big price.   That’s completely what happened when Belt A Deal finished 7th in the 2009 United Nations Handicap, took almost a year off, and then came back and surprised at 14 to 1 odds in the Grade II Dixie.   The jockey on Strike A Deal that day, Ramon Dominguez, climbs aboard him for the Bowling Green on Saturday.   Strike A Deal should get the perfect pace set up following Ali Khali and Gabriel’s Hill, the two likely front-runners, already attempting to pass them around the turn.   He’s a importance player in this.

5-Winchester – - 2/1 morning line odds

At 2/1 Winchester might actually be an overlay in this race, but horseplayers will be lucky to get anywhere close to 2/1 on him to win the Grade II Bowling Green Hindrance on Saturday. Winchester is easily the classiest animal in this race and he’s in excellent form with two victories and a third place finish in his last 3 races.   He is coming off, of a top speed rating, however in the Common Nations and Winchester has bounced on holiday of good races before in the past.   So, there are reasons not to like him to win the Bowling Green.   He’s a must point in the horse race wagering exotics, though, no matter what the odds.

Horse Wagering Strategy

Jeune-Turc should keep his odds.   He might even go off at higher odds than his 12/1 morning line.   I’m successful to bet on Jeune-Turc to win, place and show.

I will also gamble an exacta box with Winchester, Jeane-Turc and Strike A Deal.

Good luck!
