Best Qualifying Matchup Bets for the Emory Healthcare 500

NASCAR returns to the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend and the NASCAR sportsbook is offering countless qualifying matchup bets.

The Busch brothers have dominated Atlanta in the model five Sprint Cup races there, leading the most laps and garnering three wins.  It all starts with a great qualifying round instead of both Kurt and Kyle on Saturday.

Qualifying Matchups

  1. Jimmie Johnson -140 vs. Jeff Gordon +110 – - JJ won a pole at Atlanta in 2008 and then, in the go along with race, started 11th.  In 2009, he started 3rd and 7th.  Earlier this year, he started 16th.  Gordo started 7th and 1st in 2008.  In 2009, he started 16th and 4th and then earlier in 2010 he started 5th.  The odds in the NASCAR sportsbook make Gordo a must bet to win this matchup based on those stats.

           Pick:  Jeff Gordon

  1. Juan Pablo Montoya -130 vs. Kurt Busch +100 – - Juan’s definitely stepped his game up during qualifying at Atlanta in the last two races starting 4th and 3rd.  Kurt started 2nd and 6th at Atlanta in 2009.  Earlier this year, he started 11th and ended up friendly the contest I believe that Kurt is a nice overlay in this matchup.  I’m booming to behindhand him to beat Montoya at +100.

           Pick:  Kurt Busch

  1. Kyle Busch -165 vs. Sign Martin +135 – – Kyle seems to continually slash it up during qualifying at Atlanta.  He started 6th in the second rally in 2008.  He started 9th and 5th in 2009 and he started 2nd earlier this year.  Martin is having a mock-up season but he’s not without a shot in this qualifying matchup since he’s started 7th, 1st and 4th in the last three races at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Once again, the odds alteration in the NASCAR sportsbook doesn’t correctly evaluate anyone driver’s chances to beat the other.  I’m going with the dog in this matchup.

           Pick:  Mark Martin

  1. Greg Biffle -140 vs. Carl Edwards +110 – - After grabbing the 2nd position for the backer race at Atlanta in 2008, Biff came back and grabbed the 5th position for the beginning race at Atlanta in 2009.  Since then, he’s started 26th and 13th at Atlanta.  His Roush teammate, Carl Edwards, has started 14th and 10th in the at two races run at Atlanta.  Am I successful with the loser again?  You happier believe it.

           Pick:  Carl Edwards

  1. Jeff Burton -120 vs. Clint Bowyer -110 – - JB hasn’t been all that inordinate during qualifying at Atlanta.  He’s started 15th, 15th, 24th and 22nd in the last 4 races at the track.  Clint has started 5th, 21st, 20th and 18th in the continue 4 races at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  This is a toss-up matchup but I’m going with Bowyer.  His odds are slightly better than JB’s.

           Pick:  Clint Bowyer
