NASCAR

NASCAR goes back to Richmond this Saturday for the Air Guard 400.  Kyle Busch, who won the spring contention at Richmond earlier this year, is the +400 NASCAR odds favorite to take home another Richmond trophy.

Challenging Kyle will be last weekend’s winner at Atlanta, Tony Stewart, as okay as defending Sprint Cup Guardian Jimmie Johnson and Busch’s teammate, Denny Hamlin.  When one pleases Kyle win another at Richmond or wishes someone else step up to carry off home the prize?

To Win

Win out over Bet:  Tony Stewart +1000

What was interesting about Tony’s triumph rearmost week at Atlanta is that he flat out took off and left side everybody in the dust late in the race.  Why is that interesting? Because Tony’s cars haven’t been that great all season long.  It was Smoke’s first victory of the year and now he gets a whirl to put up another “W” because he goes to a track he absolutely loves to drive over.  Smoke has 3 victories and 9 Top 5 finishes at Richmond.  Getting double-digit NASCAR odds on a guy coming potty of a quelling and driving better than he has all year in excess of a track he loves has to count for something, right?  I’m going with Smoke as my “A” bet to win Richmond’s fall race this Saturday.

Help Best Bet:  Carl Edwards +1200

The hamper who chased Tony in Atlanta last week was Carl Edwards.  Edwards has never won at Richmond and he only has a single Top 5 finish over the track during his career, but that doesn’t bother me.  What I trade in history I get distant in odds.  There’s just no way that Carl should be going off at +1200 to win this race.  He’s finished fifth or better in 4 out of the last 5 Sprint Cup races.  That includes third place finishes at the Pennsylvania 500 and Carfax 400 and the second in Atlanta.  The man is driving out of this world.  Carl was the only one that could level sniff Smoke’s fumes at the end of the race last week.

Subdue Victim Wager:  Clint Bowyer +2500

Bowyer is 12th in the Sprint Cup Standings. That means that he’s the one that Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman and Mark Martin desire be gunning on account of this Saturday night.  If that isn’t motivation, I don’t know what is.  But motivation isn’t the only reason to give Clint a shot to succeed in the Air Guard 400.  He averages a finish of 10.2 over the run down and does have a victory at Richmond.  That puts him into the thick of it in my opinion and no person can complain about the 25 to 1 NASCAR odds.

Others to Consider

Jimmie Johnson +600 – – The champ has 3 victories at Richmond and his car was moving grandly at Atlanta last week.

Jeff Gordon +1000 – - Only 2 victories at Richmond in his long career means that the odds on Gordo in fact humour him an underlay in the sportsbook.
