Jeff Gordon comes into the Chase having not won a race all year in the Sprint Cup series. Thus, he is the highest "seed," if you will, in the Chase, with 5060 points, ten points vanguard of Jimmie Johnson. Hamlin put some icing on the cake at the Similar to Guard 400 last week, romping home to victory despite starting only 14th. At Atlanta the race before, he had won the pole, but he had engine problems and came 43rd.
