NASCAR Chase Rankings – Time to Get Serious and Bet On NASCAR

NASCAR

It’s over and over again to get precarious and wager on NASCAR because there’s only one race left before the Go out after starts.

The Top 10 drivers secured their ticket to the 2010 Sprint Cup Championship tournament, in another situation known as the Chase, predominantly driving well enough this past Sunday night at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  The winner of the the track, Tony Stewart, easily had the fastest car, but he might not have been the most impressive driver on Sunday.

The most moving driver was probably Carl Edwards who has started to really heat up lately.  Edwards takes the biggest cavort in my Top 12 NASCAR Chase Rankings.  I’ve gone from 10 to 12 in my rankings because the Chase is almost here, people!  It’s time to get dour!

NASCAR Chase Rankings

1.  Jimmie Johnson +350 – - Jimmie’s 3rd place finish was impressive but par for the course into him.  The defending champ always does badly at Bristol and then bounces back in the decline race at Atlanta.  What it means is that Team 48 is ready for another Sprint Cup Championship run.

2.  Carl Edwards +1000 – - I moved Carl all the way to 2nd on my Chase power rankings because not only did he finish 2nd at Atlanta on Sunday, but he’s finished 12th or better in the last 8 races.  He’s also finished 5th or better in 5 of those last 8 races.  That makes Carl the hottest driver on the Sprint Cup Circuit right now.

3.  Tony Stewart +1000 – - Like Carl, Smoke’s turned it on lately.  He has 8 Pinnacle 10 finishes in the last 10 races and 10 Top 10 finishes in the last 12 races on the Sprint Cup Circuit.  What his game categorically needs to irk about is the fact that his car was advance faster than anybody else at Atlanta on Sunday.  Route faster.

4.  Kevin Harvick +400 – - Harvick had a tough time in the Emory Healthcare 500, finishing 33rd, but it was sort of to be expected since Kevin doesn’t demand great history at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  He’s still been the most consistent driver on the circuit this year.  The big issue is that Kevin has finished 14th and 33rd in the last two races.  Still, I can’t accuse any sports gamblers that want to bet on NASCAR putting a met with bucks on Kevin to induce the Sprint Cup.

5.  Kurt Busch +1200 – - Kurt’s 6th place finish at Atlanta wasn’t poor It looked like he had a shot to win but old tires did him in. Still, he kept fighting his victim off and he kept himself in the Top 10.  At the odds in the sportsbook, Kurt is definitely one to cogitate on to bet on to win the Pursuit this year.

6.  Kyle Busch +500  – - All sports gamblers have to do is compare the discrepancy in odds to realize that Kyle might be an underlay in the sportsbook.  He’s doing okay with 4 Top 10 finishes, and 1 victory in the Irwin Tools Night Rip, in his last 6 races but Kyle’s doesn’t have a great Chase history.  Even when he dominated in 2008, he didn’t do that well in the Chase.

7.  Jeff Gordon +700 – - I recognize Gordo is till second in the Sprint Cup Standings, but he hasn’t won a race yet this year and, more importantly, I just don’t get the feeling that he and Steve Letarte hold that they can win the Chase in 2010.  Like Kyle, he’s a bet on NASCAR underlay at 7 to 1.

8.  Denny Hamlin +500 – - Denny did finish 2nd at the Carfax 400, but other than that, he’s unusually cooled off since tearing it up earlier this season.  He finished 37th at Watkins Glen, 34th at the Irwin Tools Incessantly Horse-race and 43rd at the Emory Healthcare 500 this gone Sunday.  Denny needs to show sports gamblers something this week or else he’ll qualify as the biggest underlay in the sportsbook.
