Points will be abundant on Thursday night in the Magnolia State. Auburn and Mississippi State have two high-powered offenses that are ready to roll in the NCAA football betting lines.

Auburn Tigers @ Mississippi Body politic Bulldogs
Thursday, September 9th – 7:40 PM ET
Davis Peg away at carry on Stadium, Starkville, MS
Broadcast: ESPN
NCAA Football Betting Odds: Auburn -2, Mississippi State +2

The numbers are startling. Two years ago, the offenses of Auburn and Mississippi State gathered on the same field and produced a grand total of joke field aim (with MSU getting a safety, obviously scored by a unit other than the offense). This past Saturday, Auburn and Mississippi State – in their respective games – combined to rack up 101 total points and 1,177 total yards. Yes, two years after their wretched 3-2 game on the very done piece of real estate, Auburn and Mississippi State will return to David Wade Stadium and play a very different kind of ballgame.

NCAA Football Betting: What Auburn Has To Do To Succeed in

Both of these teams flourished on the offensive side of the ball in week the same, but Auburn has the more spirited weapons on display. The Tigers and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn include a veteran corps of wide receivers and a seasoned offensive line. Now, they have the quarterback with the talent and speed who can really make their engine purr. Cam Newton romped for 357 all-purpose yards go the distance weekend against Arkansas State. He busted off a 71-yard touchdown run and presided over an offense that rolled up 608 total yards. Auburn simply needs to present Newton in position to thrive; more specifically, Newton needs to use his legs and jail Mississippi State’s defense for blitzing and over-pursuing. A well-disposed mix of personnel groupings and play calls want hold in check MSU’s defense off balance, background the stage as a service to Newton to impose his will on this game.

NCAA Football Betting: What Mississippi State Has To Do To Win

The big-play dimensions of this game are amazing to consider. Last weekend, Auburn’s offense produced four touchdown plays of at least 36 yards, and Mississippi State scored three touchdowns of at least 51 yards in length and three other touchdowns on plays that covered at least 20 yards of sward. Mississippi Ceremonial has a vastly good offense, but it’s not as good as the one Auburn will trot out on Thursday. MSU needs to maintain its offensive explosiveness, of course, but the number-one priority for Dan Mullen and the rest of his coaching staff is to prevent the big spotlight from the Auburn side of the divide. Newton has to be kept in the pocket – the Tiger quarterback cannot be allowed to desire the Bulldogs with his legs. Keeping Newton one-dimensional and getting Auburn’s offense into third-and-long situations will entrust MSU to force a lot of field goals in the red zone and make the score a scads more manageable. If MSU can enfold Auburn to 30 points, the Tigers’ defense is weak plenty that MSU can win a 35-30 game. If this game is in the 40s or higher, Auburn will enjoy the upper darbies

NCAA Football Betting: Outlook & Pick

Auburn will score 40, and Mississippi State won’t be able to play at that kind of pace. In a shootout, the better offense wins. Auburn has the better offense.
