Matt Ryan was less than impressive and only managed to complete 27 passes out of 44 attempts in Atlanta’s first design of the ripen, tallying up 252 yards and zero touchdowns.
If those numbers don’t make you flinch, he also threw an interception, finishing the game with a 67.6 passer rating.
Ryan should obtain just as much trouble, if not more, this week versus Arizona’s defense who ended the 2009 season with 21 interceptions (7th in the NFL) and 43 sacks (6th).
Atlanta’s sole aerial menace, Roddy White (who caught 13 receptions for 111 yards last week) will be facing possibly man of the league’s upper crust cornerbacks, Dominique Rogers-Cromartie. Rogers-Cromartie picked off opposing quarterbacks 6 times last football season, the 6th most interceptions in the league.
Atlanta’s rushing game is coming touched in the head a horrid performance, after their cover running back Michael Turner carried for the purpose only 42 yards last game, averaging 2.2 yards per assault.
It doesn’t rise as though the Cardinals dart defense will be letting him increase his stats this week after they limited the Rams’ Steven Jackson to 81 yards and no TD’s seven days ago.
Similarly, Arizona’s offense is not excelling at a pace the Cardinals had imagined. The Cards only managed to scrape 17 points against the St. Louis Rams last week.
The Cardinals top wideout Larry Fitzgerald was limited to 3 receptions because of 43 yards as he is still recovering from a severe knee damage.
Arizona’s covey one running back, Beanie Wells, did not amuse oneself last week due to ‘sports hernia’ surgery and on not be taking snaps this Sunday either.
Tim Hightower was clearly not playing up to par a week ago, rushing for only 54 yards all game. He also lost two fumbles in the matchup.
Hightower should find it obstructive against the Falcons defense this week, a unit that laboured 12 rushing fumbles a year ago (3rd in the NFL).
Marshall Suggest: Both Derek Anderson and Matt Ryan have averaged less than 1.4 touchdowns per encounter over their careers.
Football Expert Pick: Bet on the under (43).
