That “You know who,” is of course none other than Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. Favre emerged from his Mississippi lair last week, playing his first action for the Vikings. So what did we see from the 40-year-old gunslinger? Not a whole lot. He played one series, completed one pass for 13 yards before being removed.
When looking to make some NFL lines free pick here, don’t converge on Favre (who likely won’t go more than a select series in this game), but his backup’s. They are vital.
Favre want likely suppose way to Tavaris Jackson early on, and surprisingly, Jackson wasn’t awful last weekend. He completed seven of 11 passes on 43 yards, but was unable to come down with the Vikings into the death zone. He also carried two times for 18 yards.
As payment Seattle, the first two weeks of the Pete Carroll epoch have been a varied bag. After beating Vince Young and the Titans in their first preseason contest, they struggled mightily last weekend against Green Bay.
In that game, the Packers were able to pick apart the Seattle defense, tallying a staggering 421 yards, including 247 through the air. Seattle’s pass defense ranked precisely 30th in the NFL last year, a major concern if you’re looking to advocate d occupy the Seahawks in the NFL lines free picks.
Offensively, Seattle was much more effective, tallying 272 yards and 24 points. Both quarterbacks- Matt Hasselback and Charlie Whitehurst- looked excellent, completing 20 of 35 passes, and each recording a touchdown. The run game, which features a whole lot of uncertainty, needs some work heading into the regular season. Leon Washington is expected to carry the full force of the load as he did last weekend. Washington had 19 yards on four carries, adding a touchdown.
So when making your picks, there are a lot of factors to take into work together. The bet here is to take the Seahawks to cover in a low scoring amusement.
Look, we all know that Minnesota isn’t going to set the globe on fire this weekend, not with Favre few, and not with his leading receiver Sidney Rice out with injury. At the same time, playing at make clear, you know this defense is going to better than it was last weekend, when they allowed 271 yards of offense in San Francisco.
Still, with all those backups in, five points sure does earmarks of like a lot of points to be giving, especially in a game that’ll be low scoring. Dupe the Vikings to win straight up, but the Seahawks to cover the points.
