The Jets’ defense has performed up to expectations for the early comparatively of the season but the Dolphins have a strong unit of their own; the two teams will clash in an NFL odds betting showdown on Sunday.

This has all the makings of a low-scoring, close topic in Miami on Sunday night and it could counter a long way toward deciding the division winner in a crowded AFC East field.

NFL game odds: Dolphins favored at -2

What team has the edge at QB? On one hand, Chad Henne has more experience and perhaps a stronger arm than his opponent Mark Sanchez. But Henne hasn’t shown he’s capable of putting up big numbers as well as Sanchez has in his unfledged career.

Sanchez looked awful in week one against the Ravens but better model week. The Braylon Edwards arrest situation for DUI might affect the Jets’ passing offense, however, which is waiting with bated breath for the benefit of Santonio Holmes already from suspension.

But the Jets won’t have to deface a ton to win this one against the NFL odds favorite Dolphins, who have played it close to the vest so long way this year.

Henne is a good game manager and Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown form a good one-two combo allowing the Dolphins to pound the ball and keep the chains moving. With Derrelle Revis unconfined 2-4 weeks or so with a hamstring wound the Jets yield a numerous of ability in the secondary but they have the intensity to sustain the injury.

At safety, the lack of deep ball defense could be their undoing in this one, however. If Miami can bump a deep ball or two on Eric Smith and or Jim Leonhard and/or catch Antonio Cromartie cheating up for the pick too much, that could be the difference in the game and grant them to cover the NFL odds.

That will be quite what happens in Sunday’s game as the running scheme will bring the safeties up before Henne goes over the top for the winning score in what should be a close at one throughout in Miami this weekend.

NFL odds pick: Miami Dolphins at -2.
