NFL Betting

Thank god for sports betting. There’s only one game on Sunday that I’m even remotely interested in and it’s the tilt between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rest of the Week 4 football betting lines look to me the only reason to be watching, which means you’re going to have to start throwing your money around to have much worth in this weekend.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS -13.0 over Carolina Panthers
The Saints and Panthers are the one two teams that haven’t covered the spread in the 2010 NFL betting season, so something has to shiver when these two NFC South rivals meet once again. Jimmy Clausen looks sketchy in the pocket, and he won’t find any room to work against the Saints’ defense.

The sports betting trends are killing New Orleans in this game. They’re just 1-7 SU in their past eight home stands against the Panthers, and are a woeful 0-5 ATS in the past 5 home games, too.

It sure as hell doesn’t help that the Falcons ran amuck on New Orleans, but let’s get one thing straight: the Panthers could very in all probability be the worst NFL team right now, and the Falcons are proving to be whole of the best.

Don’t lump too much worry into the Saints’ difficulties against the spread. They’ll set up an assault against Carolina and prove to their home town fans in the Big Easy that they’re not willing to fade into the grounding.

Indianapolis Colts -7.5 over JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
My early hunch is to divulge that the Colts will plaster the Jaguars in this AFC South divisional matchup, and the numbers aren’t saying otherwise. Indy is a stern 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games in Jacksonville, and the Jaguars are the 29th worst pass defense in the league. They’re practically scrambling to shore their defense up to prepare for Peyton Manning’s coming this weekend.

The part that scares me is Indy’s poor defense. It’s not like Maurice Jones-Drew has done anything worthwhile this occasion, but he could attempt this game open. This early, I have to go with the proven metrics. MoJo has done nothing this year and Peyton Manning is…well…Peyton Manning.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES -6.0 over Washington Redskins
Michael Vick and Donavan McNabb are going to hog the spotlight all week, but this daring is more round playmakers from a pro football betting standpoint. I have a unpleasant, villainous sensitivity that McNabb is a big enough dick to stick it to his former line-up (and former fans) in one of those Vince Carter-type “FU” performances, and I also get the feeling the bubble around Vick is prosperous to burst.

But that doesn’t negate the fact that the Eagles are a flat out cold better yoke than Washington, which looked terrible on the road against St. Louis. Andy Reid will-power play this one tight to the trunk, but everyone in Philly knows McNabb like the back of their fat hands. Big sway games are not his strong proceeding.

Fingers on this NFL line antique because the public is going to lean on the momentum-charged Vick heavily as the week goes on.

MIAMI DOLPHINS +1.0 over New England Patriots
Everything hither the Patriots defense stinks, and Miami is a team that can rip them wide open. The fact that Belichik and Brady are legitimate 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games shouldn’t be a big concern in what began as a pick ‘em. But their 1-5 SU record in their past six road games should terrify everyone in New England.

Miami is for real, and they’ll verify it on Monday Non-stop Football.
